Finding Strength and Meaning Through Life’s Transitions

Life often unfolds in ways we never expected. In my conversation on the Smiling Souls Podcast, I had the chance to share my personal journey through grief, caregiving, and ultimately, finding purpose beyond loss.

The experience of losing my husband, Grant, to ALS was transformative – not just in the pain it brought but in the way it reshaped my understanding of love, resilience, and what it means to truly live.

Grief can feel like a solitary road, but what I’ve learned is that healing happens in the spaces where we allow ourselves to be seen, supported, and held by those who understand.

Throughout our conversation, we explored how grief isn’t something to “get over” but rather something to integrate into our lives in a way that honors both the love we’ve lost and the life we’re still meant to live.

Key Themes from Our Conversation

  • Grief and Growth Can Coexist
Even in our darkest moments, there are glimpses of light – whether in laughter, connection, or the realization that we are stronger than we thought.
  • Healing Isn’t Linear
There is no “right” way to grieve, and the process doesn’t follow a schedule. Some days will feel heavy, while others bring unexpected moments of joy. Both are part of the journey.
  • Love Doesn’t End
Though physical presence may fade, the love we shared remains. I’ve experienced firsthand the ways our loved ones continue to show up for us in small, mystical, and unexpected ways.
  • We Are Not Meant to Do This Alone
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that we cannot – and should not – navigate grief alone. Finding a community that understands and supports you is a crucial part of moving forward.

Holding Space for Your Own Journey

Wherever you are in your healing process, know that your path is your own, and it unfolds in its own time. Healing is not about forgetting – it’s about learning to live fully while carrying the love and lessons of those we’ve lost.

If you’re seeking support, reflection, or simply the reassurance that you are not alone, I invite you to watch the full interview and allow these words to meet you where you are.

As always, I am holding space for you on your journey.
