Finding Time for You
In the busyness of life, we often forget to nurture one of the most important relationships: our relationship with ourselves.
Taking just a few moments to reflect on and honor your journey can be transformative. This self-love practice is designed to help you connect with your inner self, celebrate your strengths, and embrace the unique light you bring to the world while you move forward through grief.
The Self-Love Practice
1. Set the Scene
Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. If it feels right, light a candle or diffuse your favorite essential oil to create a calming atmosphere. This is your time to slow down and focus inward.
2. Choose Your Soundtrack
Music can help you center your thoughts and set the tone for reflection. Consider creating a playlist of songs that inspire calm and joy. Here are a few suggestions to start:
- “River” by Leon Bridges
- “Saturn” by Sleeping at Last
- “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty
- “Bloom” by The Paper Kites
Let the music wrap around you like a warm embrace as you settle into your practice.
3. Reflect with Journaling Prompts
Open a journal or a blank sheet of paper. Let the words flow as you reflect on these prompts:
- What is one thing I genuinely love about myself?
- What is something I’ve done recently that I’m proud of?
- How have I grown over the past year, and what does that growth mean to me?
- What can I do to show myself more kindness in the coming days?
Write without judgment, letting your thoughts and feelings unfold naturally.
4. Close with Gratitude
Finish your journaling session by writing one or two things you’re grateful for about yourself. It could be your resilience, your ability to make someone smile, or even your sense of humor. Gratitude for who you are strengthens self-love and nurtures inner peace.
Why Self-Love Matters
This practice isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. It reminds you to honor yourself as you are – while making space for growth and renewal. Self-love is the foundation for creating a fulfilling life and forming meaningful connections.
Let this practice be a gentle reminder that you are worthy of love – especially from yourself.
